Paypal phishing attack on my online friend

Today I was having fun as usual on a discussion forum when a member I know came and said that paypal has told him that if he didnt immediately supply certain updates, they would deactivate his account. He posted a screenshot of the mail and it was a clear phishing attack. Came from a girlish yahoo id and gave a link for him to click and post the details. He suspected from the fact that he already had a good amount on that account.

I advised him to immediately alert the paypal team. Wonder if someone has been a victim already. Beware paypal users, if you receive a similar mail, be very sure before clicking the link.

Nigerian frauds strike again

Fairytales also have villains, don't they? Well then even our fairy tales have their share of villains and today we present as many as two parties that were involved in fraud. Nigerians are known for their smart acts of deception over e-mail offering lotteries. They did that again to a lady in from Uttaranchal. The 21 year old fell for an e-mail that claimed to be sent by the UK government and informed telling her that she had won a lottery of 2 crores. The Nigerians kept asking the victim Shweta Mendola to pay up small amounts and she ket doing that believing that one day they would pay her two crores. After she had paid off 21 lakhs, she was given fake currency notes. The Nigerians got a little more greedy and asked her to pay another 4 lakhs which resulted in an FIR by Shweta Mendola. Two of the Nigerians have been arrested and the others are at large.

Now, the story takes the most interesting turn from here. Shweta Mendola also had stolen the money from her employers Ananda Spa. Of course she did it with the good intention of returning it back after receiving her 2 crores. Ananda Spa has given her 15 days to return the money or face action.

Mera Gaaon mera bandwidth

IBN LIVE in an interesting story tells us how a village in Orissa called Raghurajpur has gone WI-FI with a bus with the latest facilities. The villagers are even financially benefiting from the facility.

The bus, when passes through the village, picks up the e-mails and sends them off from a nearby town. It can potentially connect 25 villages now.
